Matt Baumann is a saxophonist from St. Louis Missouri, currently residing in Cincinnati Ohio. Known for his open, searching, and exploratory style of playing; Matt can be found playing his solo songs and improvisations on the streets of Cincinnati, in the pavilion at the Cincinnati Art Museum, or in Cincinnati''s great local coffeehouses.
Drifter is the first solo record released by Baumann, and is a collection of simple freely played melodies, impressions, improvisations, ambient echoes, and open sounds. All of the music contained here was inspired by a love for places of desolation, endlessness, openness, deserts, mountains, empty highways, open sky, and all the feelings associated with and evoked by them.
All the music contained here is performed on solo saxophone.
