Seasons, the young radical praise group known for their high energy and Christian funk, rock & soul vibe is on the move for Christ!
Seasons began with 5 vocalists: Jessica, Shannon, Joy, Shana, & “J.P.” and 4
Band members: Dee, Dre, David and Marcus who are all music ministers at their home churches.
Lead vocalist J.P. received this vision & confirmation on Thursday June 30th, 2005. Until then J.P. had no desire to be a singer. Being raised in the church from birth, J.P. developed a gift to direct choirs, write, teach and play music.
J.P. began directing and writing music at the age of 14 at New Hope Tabernacle Church in Detroit under the Pastorate of Suffragan Bishop Rush Lockhart, Jr. Though friends would always encourage him to sing, his hearts desire was always to work with choirs.
Two weeks following the confirmation from God, the group was formed. The vocalists & band members were selected and contacted, each agreed to join the ministry with no hesitation. Not one had a problem with donating their time, until the ministry was well established.
The first vocal rehearsal was held on Friday July the 15th at J.P.’s home. Shortly after band rehearsals began, and finally group rehearsals.
With all the members in place a name for the Ministry was needed. After much consideration it was finally decided that the name of this ministry would be Seasons.
“Because the ministry is different, the name represents change, and because of the fact that it’s our Season”
The group was anointed and received prayer for the ministry from Suffragan Bishop Lockhart on Thursday August 18, 2005 at J.P.’s home church New Hope Tabernacle in Detroit.
That night Elder Louis Slaughter preached, “Lord help me to know my Season” unaware that this was the name of the ministry that would be receiving prayer after service, thus confirming the name.
Seasons ministered at their 1st engagement on, Saturday August 27th, 2005 at the Body of Christ Church on Grand River in Detroit, the Pastor is the Honorable Bishop Tate.
The new ministry was accepted & appreciated by many and the requests for the ministry began immediately. Before leaving that night Seasons received requests for booking to minister for several events.
If there were any doubts about this ministry, that night at Body of Christ Church, God let everyone know that He is definitely with this ministry.
Just less than 5 months of the group being together they recorded and released their 6 Track demo to the public titled “The MINISTRY is more important…”! This demo was recorded in 24hrs. They took this demo to the Stellar Awards in January 2006 promoted it and moved a lot of units there and back in the metro Detroit area.
Seasons later in January of 2007 began recording their professional debut project! The project was finished, mixed and mastered January 2008 titled “The Christian Variety Pack”! The project is set to be released March 29, 2008!
