This is the beginning. The String Fingers band is making their debut in 2008. Founding members, Dan Tressler and Dan Carlucci, have been involved with many musical projects in the past recent years and this album is a marker of what is new and what is to come. As the String Fingers develop a cast for the next album, this current album, "Strung Up", features the versatility of these two musicians. A strong sense of timeless song writing has been infused into these minds with a clear thought of a vast audience. "Strung Up" features mostly acoustic renditions of an equal amount of songs written by both Dan Tressler and Dan Carlucci. You will be blown away listening to this album, realizing that it is composed of just two musicians. It seems at the end of the album, track number 10, there is a hint of what is to come, as the one electric song on the album, "The Deal", by Dan Tressler, wraps up the album with a flare. This is the only track that features some phenomenal GUEST musicians. Sarah Michael Novia, sings strong backup vocals, M.D. Rickers, holds down the drums with the most dance-able beat, and Michael Quatrella, playing some nice chicken scratch trumpet with Dan Tressler''s saxophone lines. Simply wonderful! It is far from the sound of tack 2 "Bridging The Gap", by Dan Carlucci, which is the type of song you''d listen to while you find peace and harmony with your surroundings. It has already been noted as "the gem" by some listeners. "De Ja Vu", track number 5, is a co-write by Dan Tressler and Dan Carlucci. It comes in with some studio chatter in the first few seconds and then dives into the song with a hint of Johnny Cash tonalities. One song after the other, I didn''t want the album to end and if I could wish for something different, I would want the album to be twice as long.
The album art is a fantastic play on the "String Fingers" name, and the lyrics are all included in the liner notes. All artwork and recording was produced by Dan Tressler in his barn studio where I suppose the creative engine runs perpetually.
This is a very important album for our time. With Modern Folk, Ambiance, Blues, Funk, Soul and Roots, "Strung Up" will be found and cherished by many happy music lovers all over the world. There is much anticipation to hear the next album from the "String Fingers Band" and I hear it may be coming out towards the end of 2008.
