A true melange of instrumentation, Beyond Electronic Garage...African American Grooves for the Common Man is the electronic re-release of the premiere effort from Beyond Video Group lead by Composer/Video Artist Jahian L (John L. Price) which fuses together percussion, bass, keyboards, violin, talking drum, tenor sax, bass clarinet, bassoon and double bass from three different compositional perspectives. Jahian L and longtime friends Mark London Sims (electric bass) and David Ornette Cherry (keyboards, son of music legend Don Cherry) provide compositions on this work. Add Ralph Jones winds and textures and you have the nucleus of the Electronic Garage. Also on the project is Francis Awe, renowned Yoruba talking drummer, Clarence Robinson on upright bass and David''s sister Jan Cherry. The sounds hearkens memories of jazz giants including Ornette Coleman, Weather Report, and Miles Davis, while managing to induce Jahian L''s own intended vision of a collective compositional and improvisational multi-media unit. Jahian L describes the music as "heavily African influenced and filmic, combining contemporary American music with street vibes and harmelodic jazz to cut through all segments of society and touch the heart of the common man."
