FRESNO BEE ARTICLE 3-28-2008

Folly''s Pool
In its time, Folly''s Pool did well for itself: getting spins of radio stations of KFIG and KYNO and opening for the likes of Bonnie Raitt, Tom Petty and James Taylor. Locally they were a favorite at Fresno''s beloved music club, The Wild Blue.

The band released its first album in 1977, toured some, broke up around 1982, came back together for for another album in 1987, played for a year or so, stopped again, then rekindled the magic for the 2007 CD "Road Through Independence."

During all those lapsed years, however, singer/guitarist/band founder Doug Carlson never stopped writing music.

When the band got back in contact four years ago, Carlson showed them what he had been writing and soon Folly''s Pool was recording again.

"When I heard this material I was like, holy mackerel, this is really good stuff," says bass player Ray Haney. "We were very pleased with the way the CD came out."

The band played once in recent years, a birthday party for a friend, but its still ''70s friendly rock sound is ready for Saturday''s CD release party.

"There will be a lot of friends and people we haven''t seen in a while," says Carlson, who started the band with at 23 with his brother Jeff and is now 52. "It''s really flattering. It feels good to have people still interested after all these years."
