MP3 Skot Meyer - FOLK: Folk-Rock

Folk rock from Jersey

10 MP3 Songs
FOLK: Folk-Rock, ROCK: Experimental Rock

Details:
The CD starts off with driving Pop/Rock song "Talkin''", to slow down into the second track "Whisper" (which is an instrumental with an acoustic guitar and violin) This song is really an intro to the third track: "When Things Are Lookin'' Down", which was the first song I recorded for the new CD. It really paved the way for the album by laying down a solid new sound. "Live For Today" (my second favorite song on the CD) keeps the chill mood going with a unique techno drum beat, electric guitar, violins, acoustic guitar and vocals. The hot beats continue as the middle of the CD rocks into action with "Humor Me" which is an angsty song with a hot beat and electric guitar. The Angst continues in the song "I Can''t Feel" (video for this track on YouTube.) The CD then continues with "Leaving This Town" a pop-folk song. Catch auctioneer-like vocals with 2 acoustic guitars and drums by CopyCat of the band 7-11 Confederacy. Things then take another turn, in the emotional grabbing instrumental track "Night Owl" which is an intro to "Nocturnal" which rocks the cd out one last time before closing the project with "10 Million Smiles".

From punk rock to hardcore and even garage bands, Skot has come a long, long way from where he began making music. ***The Dirt On Skot Meyer*** The singer/songwriter from Jersey began his career as an established artist at 18 with the release of Debut CD “One Pair of Hands.” (available @ https://www.tradebit.com and https://www.tradebit.com) Skot produced & recorded the “one pair of hands” CD at LionTraks Studio. He later independently released the CD one rainy day in April of 2004. The album features everything from fast driving folk/punk to great break up songs plus a warped sense of humor. Not to mention Skot''s folk guitar style (skot thanks influences, Ani D and Kaki King for)“I was feeling a bit artsy.” Skot says about his Debut CD."I wanted to connect with the listener, looking back I think I achieved it and I''m really happy with that." ***A BRIEF MUSICAL HISTORY*** Skot started playing on his Father’s old Harmony guitar at the young age of 5. Later on, he took professional guitar lessons from blues guitarist Bob Devos(Savant Records). The crazy and wild teen years passed, and they were found hard to top. Skot spent them in and out of a variety of different bands. As time went by, the bands broke up and Skot found himself alone as a solo artist. “I guess I decided to play folk/punk just because that’s what comes out when I play. Two of my major influences are Ani DiFranco( for her amazing lyrics, music, ability to play guitar AND of course, great personality, ALL she has acheived mostly.) and the late great, Elliott Smith (who’s introspective songs and music ability blows my mind.” Skot explains. ***RECORDING THE "One Pair Of Hands" CD***It was my first time in a professional recording studio. It was wild, we (Shaheed Shabbazz who mixed/mastered the project) banged out song after song in like two days! We started in seperate sessions which we just laid down the guitar and bass." Shaheed Shabazz(Paradigm Records 2.0) is also featured in "When Things Are Lookin Down", "Nocturnal" and even sings in "10 Million Smiles" all of which will be featured on the upcoming album. ***PLAYING OUT LIVE***Skot has gigged to promote his CD “one pair of hands” from 2004-06 and has played such venues as: The Ars Nova, Sidewalk Café, Otto’s Shrunken Head, CBGB’s 313 Gallery, Cool Beans Coffee House, William Paterson University, The BAG(Boonton Avenue Grille), The 169 Bar (voted “best dive bar” in timeout NY in 2006!), The Canal Bar ,among now closed venues such as: The Havanna Bay Coffee House and The Rodeo Ristra plus many more. ***THE NEW CD*** “The new CD is going to be very different. I feel more creative and have obtained the knowledge of what to and not to do when making a record. I also have a lot more instruments to work with. I’m very excited about releasing it…in time, right now it’s trial and error I guess, (choosing which songs to use)”. “ This new CD will have a more Pop/Rock Feel, with some folk and instrumentals too. I''m collaborating with all different musicians and some hot beats!"
