JAZZ: Bebop, JAZZ: World Fusion

Details:
Finally! A new CD from Be-Bob Productions and the Gecko Island family, bringing six great new compositions from Composer/Bassist/Guitarist Robert "Be-bob" Grabowski together with the jazz of some of the best musicians anywhere. With him on this outing are the fantastic drummer Larry Marshall, and three great pianists: Phil Strange, Jim Gasior, and Ken Gustafson. The horns include, Jesse Jones Jr., Jason Carder, and Pete Brewer.

Bob brings his intense love of the ocean and scuba diving to this project and takes the listener to some of his favorite places in and under the water through his music making. The straight-ahead be-bop gives way to beautiful ballads and tunes filled with the bright colors of Africa and Afro-cuban and Brasilian musics and the sweet call of the islands, in particular, Gecko Island, is always there.

As a professor and author at Florida International University teaching Jazz History or gigging with his ensemble in and out of Miami Florida, Bob is always reaching for that next moment of beauty to share with his students and his audiences and has captured some of that here.

"Take me to Gecko Island, where the brilliant sun bounces off the clear blue water and the lush tropical madness gives way to the soft beach sand. Take me to Gecko Island where the water is fresh from the waterfalls and the ripeness of the fresh fruit seduces you again and again. Take me to Gecko Island, where the Jazz is sweet, the days are hot, and the music plays all night long!"
R. Grabowski, April 2003
