Garner Pruitt:
Garner Pruitt, a native of the Los Angeles area, began studies on the trumpet at age 9. It was a friend in the high school jazz band that introduced him to the early blue note days of Freddie Hubbard. He lists his early trumpet influences as Clifford Brown, Freddie Hubbard, Blue Mitchell, Lee Morgan and Chuck Mangione. During college, he studied jazz with John Prince at CSU Long Beach and studied trumpet with trumpet teacher Claude Gordon and composition with Ken Miller at Harbor College. He moved to Boise in 1985 and sat in with Gene Harris at the Idanha hotel. Over the years, he and Billy Mitchell (tpt), Bill Cope (tbone) and Charlie Warren (sax) and the cast of characters played with Gene at the Ste. Chappelle Winery.
During his time in Boise, he played with guest artists for the Boise State Jazz festival and the Jazz under the Stars series. He had a chance to play with such greats as Red Rodney, Conti Condoli, Randy Brecker, Ernie Watts, Carl Fontana and Bill Watrous. "Billy and I had a chance to play with Red Rodney" said Garner. "We were having lunch with Red, and he found out the two of us were working at a bank. After that, he referred to us as "da bankas"! It was in Boise that he and his wife Gina put together the group "Aspen Jazz". In collaboration with pianist wife Gina, he co-arranged, directed and performed live jazz ensemble soundtracks for silent films for two seasons of the Boise Performing Arts series.
In 1995 he moved to Denver and Garner worked as a sideman with a number of groups in the vibrant jazz scene, such as the Neophonic Jazz Orchestra, Rumble Seat, and wedding band Dressed in Black.

Gina Meyer Pruitt:
Gina Meyer Pruitt grew up in a musical family and gave her first performance at the age of 4. She soloed with an orchestra at age 12. She received a Masters degree in performance at University of Texas at Austin and also studied at the University of Southern California and the Aspen Music Festival with the internationally acclaimed pianist John Perry. She has been the winner of numerous awards as well as producing award winning students. She studied jazz with recording artists Milcho Leviev and Charlie Shoemake and arranging with television and film composer Ken Miller in Los Angeles. Other mentor friends include Gene Harris and Billy Childs. She has performed with jazz artists Bill Watrous, Louis Bellson, Red Rodney, Allen Vizzuti, Carl Fontana, and Bunky Green. In Denver she has appeared in a variety of settings including long running stints at the Adams Mark and Inverness hotels. Composition credits include a commission to arrange a Duke Ellington medley for the Lafayette Chorale and 35 collections and arrangements for piano. https://www.tradebit.com
She recently presented concerts and clinics at the University of Wyoming, the Gene Harris Jazz Festival in Idaho, the Colorado State Music Teachers Association convention and Metro State College in Denver. She has been on the piano faculties of Colorado Christian University, Boise State University and California State University Dominguez Hills.
