Hailing from Virginia, Minnesota Bob Driscoll, the Lead guitarist with The Small Society, had won the WEBC Tri-State "Battle of the Bands" putting Virginia on the map. First place prize-A recording contract at Dove Studios in Minneapolis. Their single "Live For a Real Good Sound" reached number 10 on the WEBC charts and remained on the charts for 17 weeks. The song was recently re-released on a compilation CD out of Duluth, Minn. (https://www.tradebit.com)

The book "Lost and Found" ("Archived in the Minnesota''s Historical Library for it''s relevant documentation of the Northern Minnesota music scene) referred to the flip side "Somebody Help Me" (J. Edwards) as "a real gem" and "a tremendous cover" largely do to Bob''s fuzz guitar work which, for it''s day, many thought was ahead of it''s time.

With the Small Society Bob had the opportunity to open for a variety of national acts including: Eric Burden and the Animals, Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs and the Castaways to name a few.

Bob auditioned and became the lead guitarist for The Rumbles out of Omaha, Nebraska. With The Rumbles Bob had the opportunity to open for several national acts such as Ted Nugent, REO Speedwagon, Bob Seger, Tower of Power and Larry Correal as well as the Rumbles headlining their own concert curcuit.

As a Studio guitarist in Los Angeles Bob did session work for several bands including Chandelier, Gettysburg and the all girl group Vixen on their multi-platinum album with Interscope Records. The music became part of the sound track for the 80s movie "Hardbodies".

Bob studied with Jamie Glaser (Grove School of Music) and with the late great underground guitar hero and friend Ted Greene (Chord Chemistry).

"The Best Of Times" is a collection of home demos with something for almost everyone. Bob plays with passion and intensity as always with some of the best phrased Blues Rock licks imaginable(check out the middle solo to "Throwing Hands") along with guitar techniques most commonly identified with Shredders and chord concepts most commonly used by Jazz/fusion musicians.
