THE HISTORY:
During 1991, the band recorded a demo tape in a small studio with the intent of sending it to clubs, hoping for work. This simple tape was so well received that LIVESAY was asked to open for guitarist Steve Morse at the World Stage in May of 1991. Being together for only 3 1/2 months, and this being only their second live show, it would lay the foundation and set a standard for LIVESAY that continues today. In March 1992, LIVESAY recorded their second demo tape, this time in a better facility. This four song demo would be named "Live & Let Rock", containing three new songs. After completion of this demo, its noted merits and reviews, the band took off, and opening for national acts was becoming a regular occurrence. The list contained such bands as Britny Fox, Danger Danger, Dangerous Toys, Spread Eagle, Trixter, Leslie West, American Angel, Non-Fiction, Gregg Howe, and SteelHeart. Interviews on local college radio stations, reviews in magazines as well as headlining their own shows filled the next few years for the band.
THE First CD:
A decision was finally made in 1996 to produce a debut CD. The final product consisted of nine fully produced, all original songs recorded and mixed at Millbrook Studios in Millbrook, NY. LIVESAY does not want to be considered a local band by any means. Their desire to be heard worldwide provided the catalyst for creating this CD. Since the CD''s release in January of 1997, the response has been tremendous. With the help of national distributors such as Perris Records, Kystal Rose Music and Dream Disc''s, as well as newspapers, magazine''s, fanzines and radio stations, LIVESAY has achieved one of its major goals. The CD is being heard in France, Germany, Italy, Holland, Puerto Rico, Sweden, England, Belgium, and the crown jewel of the Far East, Japan. Without any management, major record label or financial backing, LIVESAY has sold over 3,000 CD''s.
SUPPORT OF THE CD:
Adding to their impressive list of national act opening spots, this past two years LIVESAY has opened for Ronnie James Dio twice as well as Pat Travers, The Jason Bonham Band, Fates Warning, Saxon and Dee Snider of Twisted Sister fame. At the second Dio show, another national band, Love/Hate, shared the bill. Love/Hate, and their promoter and management were so impressed with LIVESAY''S show that they offered them an opening slot at a huge outdoor festival scheduled for August in Las Vegas, Nevada. Some of the major magazines impressed with the band have been Metal Edge, Metal Dreams, Aquarian, More Sugar and Steppin'' Out. Some quotes from their reviews have been comments such as “Melodic Metal with Soaring Vocals and Searing Leads", "Impressive Writing from an Extremely Cohesive Band", "Incredibly Professional Sounding Quality from a Debut CD", "A Must Listen." which have helped the band reach even further audiences.
