Oh Tragic Vinyl Night (OTVN) have been steadily raising their profile in the Brisbane local music scene for the past 2 years. While the name has little to do with the rock sound they deliver, it still heavily points out their fetish of all kinds of music, and what they may be found doing in their spare time.
After brothers Dan Winter (Vocals/Guitar) and Nato Winter (Bass) met Jonny Pickvance (Drums) through a mutual friend, the trio stepped into the studio to record their self-funded debut ep ‘Masquerade’. In the meantime a handful of shows and small festivals were played around Brisbane, including venues such as the Alley Bar in Milton (RIP), The Rev in the Fortitude Valley (RIP), and The Living Room in Paddington (RIP). I can see a Rest in Peace pattern evolving here!
Themes of paranoia, confusion, desperation, and the first and last days of summer are driven by a pounding backing of distortion and melody. Dan Winter brings a unique Australian vocal to the mix, which varies from soft tones to powerful screams but always with realistic emotion.
