Romanteek is a dance extravaganza ready to blow your mind and move your body. Romanteek hails from the wet woods of Olympia, WA where they have been cultivating their style of heart throbbing dance jams since 2001. The lovely and talented Ruby Valentine, Romanteek''s founder, began in her basement alone with her keyboard. Part motivational speaker, part torch singer, Valentine sure knows how to break it down and bring it all together again. It wasn''t long until Le Matt came along and joined her on the drums. The two then began touring the west coast on a regular basis, spreading their songs of love and broken hearts, giving a voice to so many disenchanted humans.
The duo spent a long time experimenting with different setups including collaborating with friends Scream Club and incorporating Le Matt''s thumping disco beats. Once it got to disco beats they took it to Europe and toured all the underground discotechs and queer squats they could find. Upon returning to the US, Romanteek put together their greatest incarnation yet: The Five Fingers of Romanteek. Starring Ruby Valentine - middle finger = lead vocals and hand percussion, Matt "le matt" Buscher - pointer finger = guitar , Ira "Dance Attack" Coyne - ring finger = keyboards and stuff, Ian Ackerman- pinky finger = bass, and Heather "that''s what she said" Dunn - thumb =drums. The All-Star lineup brings with it a wealth of musical experience - Heather Dunn from such other bands as Dub Narcotic Sound System, the Raincoats, and Tiger Trap; Dj Dance Attack from the cross coastal dance DANCE!! ATTACK!! dj crew and Ian Ackerman formerly of The Strangers and currently with the northwest musical think tank Problems.
Eclectic and powerful, Romanteek is pro-dance, pro-sweat, pro-human, pro-queer, pro-choice, pro-revolution, pro-evolution, pro-peace, pro-power of the people and pro-power of the dance floor.
