Shae Parka, born February 6th, 1980 in New York City. He was raised in Brooklyn, where he resides to the present day. He acquired a taste for music at an early age due to his father being a musician and a man of the industry. His passion for music has grown since.
When he completed his primary schooling, he moved on to The High School of Art and Design to further his education in the field of his choice… music. There, he found the school rich with connections and resources. He soon involved himself with a label by the name of Urban Disc Records. He acted as a promotional assistant and as a supporting artist to the label’s main project: “I.Q”. They soon merged into a two-man show, calling themselves “Native Styles”. During his career with Urban Disc, Shae performed at many venues throughout the city such as: B-Cat, Lenox Hill Lounge, and Lyricist Lounge, among various others.
Aside from performing for the label, he went out on his own ambition and participated in numerous freestyle battles/competitions on stage. He has since decided to focus mainly on his writing skills as a lyricist, though the competitions make him more essential as a versatile artist/performer. After completing all courses at The High School of Art and Design, Shae Parka was compelled to push harder for his career as an artist.
He sought to increase his value by attending The Queens Borough Community College. There he took courses in Audio Engineering. He completed these, but wasn’t satisfied with the depth of the material they provided. He searched for more extensive programs in this field, and found them when he was accepted to The Institute of Audio Research. There, he continued his studies of audio engineering. The supplied training in engineering as well as: production, post-production, mixing, mastering, ear training, acoustics, and music business. He was an exceptional student and took the notice of many teachers for his dedication and level of professionalism, two of which being Gary Fritz, and Christopher Neuner who may be contacted for reference information. Shae Parka has completed course work there and is now certified as and Audio Engineer.
While attending I.A.R., he also worked as an intern for The Museum of Sound Recording. He gained many hours of hands on experience with recording and mixing live sound. Since then he was hired by LightYear Entertainment, where he currently works as a recording engineer. He plans on remaining there to learn the ropes of the industry, using his place as an engineer as a catalyst to help build him into a successful recording artist, which is his ultimate goal.
