Amber Sky Lane was formed in spring of 2007 by Wes Gonzalez, Bowen Armour, and Rob Platt after the break up of their old band. Deciding that they wanted to make their sound more professional, they immediately began working on writing new material. The culmination of their efforts came in the summer of that year when they recorded their first three song demo with Andy Oswald from the band Colossus of Roads. Shortly after recording the demo, Rob decided to part ways with the band due to changing musical tastes and personal conflicts. While looking for a replacement, Wes and Bowen continued to write new material, aiming to have enough to record the band’s first EP. After several months of writing and searching for a studio to record in, Wes got in contact with Brian Rumsey of Majic Vanish Arts and Production and he agreed to work with them. In the middle of recording their eight song EP, Wes and Bowen were contacted by Dan Jagielo, who had recently moved to San Diego from Chicago. Dan quickly picked up the bass parts and impressed Wes and Bowen with his enthusiastic playing style and great personality. They started looking into venues to book shows at, but were cut short when they found out that Dan had to move back to Chicago due to financial problems. He will be returning shortly in the summer of 2008 to play full time with them. In the mean time, Wes and Bowen found temporary bassist Anthony Lopez to fill in, and the three of them are currently looking to play shows and get their music out. Their style is a blend of influences from various genres, though they classify themselves as experimental, alternative rock for lack of a better term.
