Songwriter, Gloria Sapp has been sharing her gift of song since she was ten years old.
A native of Monroe, Louisiana, Gloria has enjoyed a decade-long career singing in choirs, serving as choir directress and participating in church competitions throughout California. She had the opportunity to travel the states as a part of The Gospel Music Workshop in 1980, performing with Reverend James Cleveland, with whom she recorded an album in 1985. Her group Gloria Sapp & the Gospellodians traveled with B.J. Fears and Free Spirit, sharing the stage with gospel greats such as Shirley Caesar, and more. Gloria''s albums include a 45" recorded in 1980, as well as the original version of "The Way, The Truth, and The Life", made in 1978. This album featured the Gospellodians, with whom she sang until 1983, when she paused her music career indefinitely to support her husband''s efforts as the new pastor at their church. After dedicating herself to her role as pastor''s wife for many years, and raising her three children, Gloria has stepped onto another path. In her efforts to uplift and encourage, she has put all her faith in a ministry of song. Reviving her independent record label Taff Records, Gloria revised "The Way, The Truth, and The Life" Released in 2003, the new album is her expression of the transcendence of a melodious voice inspired by God. Twenty-five years later, she has returned to the studio to share her vocal talents with the world. A collaboration with Grammy Nominee and Stellar Award winning producer Kenny Smith, this eight-song album, written and arranged by Gloria, relies on the rich history of traditional gospel music, with the addition of contemporary tunes underscored by an influence of instrumental jazz. Gloria''s newly revised album has been featured on POWER 88.1 FM radio in Las Vegas, Nevada, KTYM 1460-AM in Inglewood, California, WWSZ 88.1 Chicago, WLUW 88.7 Chicago, KUVO 89.3FM Denver, CO. KTTP 1110 FM Alexandria LA. KRJO 1680 FM Monroe, LA also in London and the UK. Gloria has been featured on live television, as well as the popular Kathy B Touching Lives in Southern California. She is also at work writing and producing a new Gospel play called "Can You Reach My Friend, her new CD also entitle "Can You Reach My Friend, produced by Michael Washington of Impervious Productions, is a story of songs written for that play.
The songs on this CD unfold and fold this play, it will make you laugh and it will make you cry.
A friend can be referred to as anyone who has strayed away from God, in this play the friend is a young man who left his widowed mother alone at home, the title track is a song that explains it all.
The main purpose of this CD and the play is to minister to any and every one, who will take the time to listen. Lord, Jesus can you reach my friend, he''s in trouble and he needs you.
Gloria is a member of Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce, Urban Gospel Alliance, and the Gospel Music Association. Gloria resides in Las Vegas, Nevada, and is a member of Trinity Baptist Church where she is active as Choir Directress.
