Heidi Harris hails from the winterlands and woodlawns of New Hampshire''s lake''s region where she grew up always skirting one edge or another. A precocious choir girl from a young age, she began writing and playing her own music in her teens and has since blossomed into one of the more imaginative songwriters of the New York avant-garde.
Her composition style is a dulcet blend of soulful electro-folk ranging from down-tempo moods to the swift and swarming. Her voice is a gorgeous force of nature, seemingly summoned and projected from the lore of a thousand years of love and loss. The music is nothing if not primal and passionate with an absolute dedication to pure expression.
Wisdom Teeth on Bended Knee, Heidi''s debut album, is a collection of songs conjured, written and recorded over the past three years. Having worked almost completely by herself shaping, texturing and polishing the record, she''s become a master at the production process. There is a whole galaxy of ambience below the surface of the songs in the form of literal bells and whistles, synthesizer drones, talk radio stations, cutlery jangles, and a perpetual breeze of harmonies, all of which coalesce and comply with the indelible Americana influences in which Heidi is rooted. While most of the work was performed and arranged solely by Heidi, she''s also had the pleasure of collaborating with a few talented artists along the way, most of whom are local musicians. She''s been able to join forces in a telecommute fashion as well, with the likes of https://www.tradebit.comm, a French electronic musician and engineer. His work is featured on the track Content.
