Details:
As a professional singer/songwriter, guitarist, and educator, Matt Heinecke has been surrounded by music for most of his life. A native of Coronado, California, Matt began learning guitar at the age of eight. Growing up, he primarily focused on jazz, but has since studied a gamut of styles, ranging from bluegrass to classical to flamenco.

Matt is a graduate of the University of Southern Californias prestigious Thornton School of Music. He studied jazz and classical guitar under the likes of Frank Potenza, David Oakes, Steve Trovato, and Richard Smith - all of whom challenged him to pursue a style all his own.

His debut CD, Coming Home (2001), introduced us to standout songs such as "Falling" and the title track "Coming Home", which featured Matt''s diverse musical and lyrical approach to songwriting. Matt spent several years playing the Los Angeles club circuit at such nationally renowned venues as Genghis Cohen and The Mint while sharing the stage with some of L.A.''s most recognized performers. Additionally, while in Los Angeles, he worked for Warner/Chappell Music Publishing, Zomba Music Publishing, Jive Records, and BMG Music. In 2003, Matt took the next step in his musical journey by relocating to Nashville, Tennessee to focus on performing.

He released the five-song Ghost EP with the help of noted L.A. and Nashville producer Dave Tough. The project showcased Matt''s exceptional acoustic guitar and mandolin work on songs such as "Ghost" and "Dreams". While in Nashville, Matt also performed as a session vocalist and guitarist on several demo recordings and independent albums. He also performed his own songs all over Music City, appearing at legendary songwriting clubs like the Bluebird Cafe.

Matt has shared the stage with such accomplished artists as A.J. McLean (Backstreet Boys), Jessica Andrews, Jake Simpson (2003 Star Search winner), and Marcel. He has also recorded on projects by film composer Bear McCreary, most recently on the motion picture Rest Stop (Warner Home Video).

Since returning to Los Angeles in 2006, Matt completed a Master of Arts in Teaching degree in Music Education at USC. In June 2007, he was named Director of Instrumental Music for the Coronado School of the Arts. He now resides in San Diego and continues to perform around Southern California.
