Details:
When you’ve won national and international awards for your songs, releasing new material can be daunting. Not so for John Harley Weston. His new album ''Welcome Back To Reality’ (early 2008) is even more essential. Leaning more on his rock/country crossover roots with earthy tones and lyric fed tales of trial and triumph his acoustic guitar based rock is wonderfully seasoned with the best of country, roots and blues……there''s no cheese here. Instead, ten subtly crafted songs, all with strong melodies, colourful hooks and hand-painted lyrics from a songwriter with depth and conscience.

Weston plays the majority of the instruments himself and has engineered and produced most of it too. His acoustic guitars are sparing yet in your face, his electric guitar licks are hand placed gems and his voice has already been compared to Paul Rodgers (Free, Bad Company, Queen) , Paul Carrack (Mike and the Mechanics, Squeeze) and Neil Diamond (one of the most successful singer-songwriters of all time). Add a little Springsteen and Mellencamp and you have John Harley Weston. His accordion playing is tasteful too, adding a Cajon flavour to many songs, including the emotive Aussie classic ‘Waltzing Matilda’. When musical boundaries are pushed the middle moves toward the edge - it has become daring to play real music again. About time too!

Two songs off the album have already received Honourable Mentions from Billboard world Songwriting Contest 2007 - the uplifting Sheryl Crowesque ‘Believe In Yourself’ and the ‘Free’ like mantra ‘Let Your Life Begin’. Both songs share the same lyrics but completely different music showing Weston’s talent and diversity. Other tracks include the acoustic and intimate ''Righteous Son'' a story about Van Nguyen the Australian who was hanged in Singapore for carrying drugs.....almost hymn like, the songs is stripped bare to acoustic guitar and haunting southern choir and amazingly Weston manages to cast a positive light on the subject matter.

This is an uplifting album with lyrics that leave you feeling like your day can only get better...and better.

People who are interested in John Mellencamp Neil Diamond Paul Rodgers should consider this download.
