Kirven Blount credits a mother from Texas and a father from Georgia for instilling his abiding love of Country Western. When he was just a kid, his Dad wrote a book that motivated various Country labels to send LPs by the boatload, so Kirven’s childhood was piled high with classic country, outlaw country, and bad country. His mother kept Emmylou Harris on heavy rotation, and it never got old. He spent a few years in Austin, TX, where the fascination really took hold.
Despite all that, he didn’t come around to the idea of playing heartbreak music himself until he was basically in adult diapers. Now he’s trying to make up for lost time. He co-fronts a Los Angeles bar band, The Davises, with whom he intends to produce another album any day now.
