Minister LaTanya Henry is a minister of the Gospel, praise leader, musician, songwriter, choir director, workshop clinician, and an anointed Psalmist with a heart for worship. A vocal powerhouse, her soulful voice and expressive musicianship evokes an atmosphere of praise, welcomes the presence of the Holy Spirit, and ushers worshipers into the Throne Room.
Minister Henry has been active in music ministry for over 13 years and has shared worship experiences with such gospel greats as Dove Award winning songwriter V. Michael McKay, Grammy/Stellar Award nominee James Bignon, well-known evangelist Dr. Yvonne Capehart, Grammy, Dove and Stellar award winning producer Joe Pace, and Recording Artist and founder of Tyscot Records, Bishop Leonard Scott, to name a few. She was a staff writer for Tyscot Publishing for three years and during that time released her first single, "Sexy, Sassy Sanctified" (2004), the Elder Yvonne Jones Conference Theme Song.
Now independent, she has compiled her personal collection of songs and called them SELAH. The name of the album, SELAH, is a word from the Hebrew language. The word is found in the Book of Psalms at least 74 times, and means "to pause and reflect meditatively." Many of the songs on the album were inspired by God during regular Sunday worship services, and so they express LaTanya''s own meditative reflections.
Teaming up with the prolific up and coming producer and Gospel artist David Leeth, AKA Scripture to make the first four tracks on the album, this project is an exciting mix of jazz, R&P (rhythm and praise), and contemporary worship styles. The beats David produces are infectious and memorable, and his music tracks paired with LaTanya’s thoughtful lyrics make for an irresistible listening experience.
Enter His Gates is a declaration of the goodness of God and His worthiness to be praised, and has a contagious Latin-inspired beat. The imaginative use of trumpets and percussion immediately sets the tone for praise.
The next track, We''re Gonna Make It, has an attention-grabbing bass line and inspiring lyrics strategically remind us to encourage one another and stand in agreement with each other to achieve victory for our lives.
