Matt Baumann is a saxophonist from St. Louis Missouri, currently residing in Cincinnati Ohio. Known for his open, searching, and exploratory style of playing; Matt can be found playing his solo songs and improvisations on the streets of Cincinnati, in the pavilion at the Cincinnati Art Museum, or in Cincinnati''s great local coffeehouses.
Meant as the companion piece and sequel to his first record "Drifter", "Deserter" is the continuation of "Drifter''s" open melodies, improvisations, and sound impressions.
All the music contained here is performed on solo saxophone and finds Baumann emerging more and more in his own unique style rooted in melody and simplicity.
