It may be cliche to say THE MEDIAM''s third EP in two years is its most inspired to date, but it''s the fuck''n truth. With emotionally driven and sometimes chemically-inspired songs, there is nothing out there with the timeliness and poignancy of The White House Sessions.
Catapolted by the soaring melodies of "Slide," The White House Sessions are a charismatic musical call for change that are both personal and political. From the anthemic honesty of "God is a Communist" to the controlled chaos that drives the dance-punk "¡Revolt!", singer Gus Nicklos says the over all theme is simple.
"We want to change minds," Nicklos explains. "No one wants to hear about politics, Americans are too busy being depressed and watching reality TV. The music makes it all go down easy, the lyrics are the active ingredient. We want to have a conversation, not force it down your throat. It''s like a hardcore record for a mainstream audience."
The White House Sessions will be followed by a full length due in spring. It will include "Slide" and possibly other tracks from the EP. The Mediam plan on spending the fall writing and recording. "No matter what happens in the elections we''ll still be here," Nicklos affirms. "There''s a giant gap between what the media broadcasts and what is really going on. We are what''s in between, the mediator, The Mediam."
