Details:
Influenced by newer artists like LUCE and Pete Yorn, by in-between-artists like Neil Finn (from Crowded House), and by long-in-the-tooth writers like Bruce Cockburn and Neil Young, Michael Vincent began writing songs almost from the moment he got his hands on his brother Vic''s hand-me-down Montgomery Ward Airline guitar.

An immigrant to the Bay Area from Southern California, Michael spent his early years showing up at live performances in coffee-houses that showcased then-unknowns like Jackson Browne and The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (of which Jackson had been a part).

As Michael puts it, "I really came to love the singer-songwriters when I first realized what was possible in capturing the human-experience. After hearing the likes of Jackson (not to mention James Taylor and post-Beatles George Harrison), I knew I wanted to say something from my experiences, and worked hard to hone words that both emulated these earlier artists, and expressed my own style."

Michael wrote and sang lead vocals for a number of acoustic bands, while also having a short-lived career in Contemporary Christian music, opening for some of the major names in Christian rock (Steve Camp, Tom Howard, Randy Matthews, Ken Medema).

"I considered myself an evangelical Christian, but in a very short while determined that such labels are often useless and sometimes harmful, even. While my faith has remained wholly intact, I''m unable to embrace any of the more narrow points of view coming out of that community."

That said, are his songs meant to convey some deeper meaning? "I want my spiritual life to inform my writing, but it has to be from a deeper place than bumper-sticker theology. It has to embrace the human experience in all of its beauty, complexity, and even its shadow-side. Kierkegaard said that life is "absurdum tremendum," but into that experience has entered grace. That''s something I resonate with, and hopefully my songs will too."

Michael recorded a solo album (Lines & Wonders) that included guest performances by Bruce Kunkel of The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band on guitar ("a dream come true, especially after loving the guy''s licks long before The Dirt Band made it,") and Ken Medema on keyboards. That release would lead him to opening for folk-rock and protest legends Barry McGuire ("Eve of Destruction"), and Pete Fullerton (of "We Five.")

In 2004, Michael formed Satellite Sky, aiming at an audience who would appreciate intelligent lyrics with accessible melodies. (previously incarnations as RockingHorse and Michaelangelo''s Fire)

Michael stepped aside from singing lead vocals on most of the band''s tunes, and after several months the band morphed into FlyBoy, once again with Michael primarily backing up others on his tunes.

After a couple of years of hanging in the background, the itch to bring it forward again raised its head and Michael returned to the studio to do an album of his own tunes, his own way, backed by incredible players and a lot of support.

The result is the new CD - "Radio." Of this project Micahel says, "I love these songs and I''m hoping that they resonate well with people so they come out and see me play them live, both with and without a band.

With the likes of Mark Karan of The (Gratefl) Dead and Zach Hammer of the ever rising Five AM both on lead guitar, and the entire local fave Atkinson Kincheloe Band to boot, this is a well crafted work, and a whole lot of fun besides!
