RyeLee is the female version of City & Colour. The
vocal texture and gentle stripped-down guitar combine to create acoustic indie pop played by two girls who find themselves in the middle of the Canadian Prairies. It''s Winnipeg. It''s winter most of the year. They stay inside a lot and play guitar.
Rheanna and Lorrie met and became friends in
August. Rheanna had decided to put together her first solo album after being in a band with her two brothers for several years. “the fall” was nearly completed when the two met but there was just enough time for Lorrie to add background vocals to a few tracks on the album.
Rheanna began playing open mics by herself in November. One month later, RyeLee became a dymanic duo when Rheanna and Lorrie hit the stage together for the first time at the musically historic Lounge of Charlie O and Friends. A newly revived music spot which saw the beginnings of the likes of Neil Young, Joni Mitchell and Burton Cummings.
Since their first performance, the twosome have jumped at every opportunity to play their music for new ears including singer songwriter nights, coffee houses, and as guests on Howard Mandshein’s Free Range Radio on UMFM.
