In March of 2001, Kevin Sackett walked into Collister Community Church in Boise, Idaho. He did not know who Jesus was when he walked into that little church, but he heard the Gospel message that day. He found out that religion is something made up out of the minds of men, but salvation was a gift from God and all you had to do was believe the message, and the gift was yours!
Before he knew what was happening, the Holy Spirit was giving Kevin words to write songs and music that would praise and glorify the Lord and, to his amazement, he soon became the worship leader of the church. Doug Buckendorf was a bus driver who had a past filled with pain and suffering. His strength and his only hope came from his faith in God. But Doug was blessed with a gift from God. He could sing! The pastor knew Doug and asked him to sing one Sunday morning. It was then that Kevin heard Doug sing and knew he found the person to sing the songs he had been writing. Kevin and Doug formed the group "Spirit of Him" and produced a 12 song album released in November of 2003 they named "By Inspiration".
The album was only sold to the church members and family with all proceeds going toward the completion of the new church sanctuary. In March of 2004, Mark Lynn, the pastor and friend of both Doug and Kevin, died of a stroke. For the next 3 years, Kevin continued to lead worship at Collister Church and Doug sang as a member of the worship team. Kevin wrote more songs and they would sing them on Sunday mornings to the church congregation. Kevin wrote a song he named "A Jesus Thing" in the spring of 2007. This song is about a guy that goes into a restaurant for a bite to eat. While he is praying, the waitress overhears him and asks him about that "Jesus thing". The guy proceeds to tell the waitress how he was saved and delivers to her the gospel message. The song ends with the waitress accepting Christ as Savior at Table 5. This is how "Spirit of Him" became "Table 5".
The new album "A Jesus Thing" features 12 new songs written by Kevin as well as a few favorite hymns (Old Rugged Cross, Leaning on the Everlasting Arms, Rock of Ages, Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus, and Peace in the Valley). We believe this album was produced to get the message of salvation to the lost. If you do not know Jesus as your Savior, we believe this album could help you to know Him.
