Details:
Few people can say they have recorded an album in the basement of a bakery. The odds are that none sound as lush as Grey Star Morning''s debut, Heartwash Hotel.

Grey Star Morning represents a natural progression in the musical evolution of Robert Gish, a Boston-based singer/songwriter. His debut EP Uncovered, released in 2002, garnered airplay on several major New England radio stations and generated positive local press and industry feedback. While touring regionally in support of the disc, he met Matt Ellis (drums) and Alex Helfen (bass), resulting in a musical partnership that has greatly expanded upon Uncovered''s vision and promise.

At once delicate and jarring, textured and shimmering, stark and soaring, Grey Star Morning has crafted a cinematic sound that is uniquely its own. Heartwash Hotel fuses varied British and American influences, combining healthy pop hooks and sensibilities with a distinctive but accessible indie mentality. This is an album with texture -- no two songs sound the same, yet an undeniable common thread exists throughout.

Recorded on a minimal budget in the basement of a local bakery, this album is awash with electronic flourishes, turntable-scratching, and a string quartet punctuated by a compelling vocal performance and intelligent lyrics.
