MP3 Greg Little - Dreamwalker

A new collection of original Jazz compositions with Brazilian & Afro-Cuban influence... Guest Musicians: Michael Zilber & Michael Spiro

10 MP3 Songs
JAZZ: Jazz Fusion, JAZZ: World Fusion

Details:
Greg Little has bridged the gap between modern acoustic jazz and electronics in his first CD release for Green World Music entitled Dreamwalker.

On Dreamwalker, Greg pays subtle homage to some of his major influences in this set of original songs featuring himself on Trumpet, EVI & Voice as well as a stellar group of first-call, San Francisco musicians including Michael Zilber on Saxophones & Michael Spiro on percussion. There is the obvious love for Miles Davis as well as the 6/8 Afro-Cuban Rhythm. From the evolving melody and latin influence on Late Night Tea to the romantic Brazilian flavor on Glimmer, this is original music that remains accessible, but with a surprising degree of depth. This CD can also be added to the relatively short list of CDs that integrate Jazz sensibility and electronics in a completely organic & musical way. Check out the EVI that he plays on five tracks!

Greg was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia where he attended Virginia Commonwealth University as a music major. After two years at VCU, he and classmate Steve Wilson left school to perform on the road with Grammy winner Stephanie Mills, touring internationally and recording on her album "Tantalizingly Hot." After two and half years with the band, Greg returned to VCU as a Jazz Studies major.

Around 1986, Greg began studying with Jazz Patriarch Ellis Marsalis who was now an instructor at VCU. By 1988, Marsalis was head of the Jazz Department and Greg was playing in his quintet. Playing with Marsalis'' Quintet that year, proved to be a pivotal point in the budding composer''s creative life. The quintet became an ideal vehicle for his writing and with Marsalis'' feedback, Greg began writing more prolifically. The quintet featured a number of his compositions in its concerts. It was the beginning of what was to become one of his most meaningful pursuits.

Since that time, Greg has built a solid career as a freelance and studio musician playing with Motown stars such as The Four Tops, The Temptations and The O''Jays, Salsa stars Andy Montanez, Lalo Rodriguez, Miles Pena & Fania All Star - Luis Romero as well as major Jazz names such as Frank Foster, Benny Carter, Joe Chambers, Steve Turre and the previously mentioned Ellis Marsalis. Greg also leads his own groups. For more information go to: https://www.tradebit.com
