MP3 Greg Ribot &Cumbia del Norte - The International Conspiracy

Mostly a Cumbia (a Colombian style), with some Bolivian and other stuff thrown in.

14 MP3 Songs
LATIN: General, WORLD: World Fusion

Details:
Music travels around the world evolving as musicians from different cultures influence each other. Originating on the Atlantic oast of Colombia, Cumbia''s roots are a combination of West African, Indiginous, and Spanish Traditions. Over the years, various other influences have been absorbed into the style, including Mambo and Jazz.
Nine of the songs on this recording are Cumbia, the other five songs are a mixture of Andean, Argentine, Caribbean, Brazilian and North American.
The musicians on this recording are among the best that New York City has to offer. They have performed and recorded with the top names in Jazz, Latin, and North American popular music. Our diversity has made this an international conspiracy to create music.

NOTE: This CD was released independently in 1996 by Greg Ribot. It was re-released in 2000 by Cathexis Records with a different cover. The first cover has a picture of a building with a sax wrapped around it. The second has a drawing of a man playing sax and a woman dancing with a half urban/ half jungle background. The catalogue number is GRCD40 for both covers, and the music''s the same. Cathexis Records has since gone out of business. But, it''s a great CD either way.
