The Story
Paula and I were talking - we''re married so we do this, it''s never boring - and she came up with the idea of an environmentally-themed children''s cd.
Now, I used to work for a Friends of the Earth group in Ireland back in the 90''s and I know the amount of depressing news that rolls in day on day so I was reluctant to go into that space again, especially with my music.

But, she came back from the library weighed down with books to research and slowly the idea grew that we could present a really fun, positive slant on green issues by using the early ears music methods enjoyed every day by thousands of children all over the UK.

You see, I''ve been working since 1993 with kids and their parents, teachers and childcare professionals to create music programmes to support their creative learning. And over the years children and their grown-ups have been happily building balanced bodies and bright brains - developing their internal environment at their own pace in my music sessions all over the UK and Ireland.

So it stands to reason that in this time of great change [climate change] we develop music programmes that help children and their grown-ups connect to nature and the environment in a fun and aware manner. So we''ve taken up the challenge and this is the first project that will bring the benefits of whole-brain music-supported learning into the lives of our audience: 0-3s, 3-5s, and 5-8s.

We test-launched the initial idea at The Big Green Gathering [go if you get the chance in 2008 - it''s amazing and very family friendly] and the feedback was fantastic.
A few tweaks here and there and now we''re bringing the music and activities to you.

Who is running The Little Green CD Project?

Craig TrafFord - The Fun Music Man - is a community musician at Early Ears Music, a leading West Midlands (UK) Children''s Creative Learning company. He is a published songwriter and has been performing since 1982. In 1993, whilst living in Ireland, he was invited to consult with therapeutic teams working with children with disabilities and design music programmes for them. Since then, he has worked with thousands of children and their grown-ups in schools, nurseries, playgroups, festivals, events and conferences with 0- 8 year olds the main focus.

Paula Trafford is a multi-disciplined therapist, currently involved in the marketing, PR, customer service and admin aspects as well as making sure the whole family keeps ticking over whilst we embark on this project.

Both Paula and Craig have a respect of and love for nature and the environment and a healthy, good-natured disregard for people who tell others how to live and ''be environmental''. That''s why this project is not a preaching one by any stretch. The activities are all suggestions rather than instructions and we''re certain that you will come up with your own much more pertinent to your own children and their lives.

Despite all the scientific and philosophical bickering going on about the environment, one thing''s for sure, it is the only one we''ve got so why would anyone want to disrespect it anyway?

There are also a couple of blogs happening here at https://www.tradebit.com and https://www.tradebit.com if you''d like to contribute to forming a community around some of the arising issues.
