“2Real”
David C. Everett, aka “2Real”, is a 2002 graduate of Canton High School. Following graduation, David entered the United States Navy where he became a hospital corpsman. While stationed at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA, David began to dabble a bit in hip-hop.
As he began to build a passion for hip-hop, David was deployed to Kuwait for a six (6) month tour in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. While in Kuwait, David provided medical care to injured soldiers from the battlefield. Upon returning to Portsmouth, David began to home his skills in writing and recording hip-hop music.
Following his discharge from the navy, David returned to Canton and began putting his life experiences to music and working harder to develop his rap style. David was fortunate enough to work with Mark Taylor out of Flint, MI and from this collaboration the beginning of his first major cd began to come together. This first recorded cd entitled “Life Tales,” is scheduled to be released this fall.
In the process of working on his “Life Tales” cd, a beat provided by his friend Glacier Boy got David to thinking about the black college marching bands. As the result of David’s love for the Jackson State University Tigers Marching Band and in dedication to their hard work and the love of their fans, “HBCU Salute” was born. “HBCU Salute” continues to get high accolades from young and old.
David is looking forward to performing the “HBCU Salute” along with other selections from his upcoming “Life Tales” release at the upcoming Black College Football Classic Tour from August 31, 2008 to January 2, 2009.
