Born in A Coruña, Marcelino Galán was trained first at Barcelona’s Taller de Musics (Musicians’ Workshop) and then at Boston’s Berklee College. Currently, he is a teacher specialized in jazz at the A Coruña High School of Music. Simultaneously, Galán has been active in numerous jazz projects: Marcelino Galán Zinco is a band of young Galician jazz instrumentalists guided by Galán himself.
Zinco is also the title of Galan’s second album (Roho was the name of his first work), and includes original tunes with strong influences of Mark Turner, Chris Cheek and, above all, Kurt Rosenwinkel, to whom one of the tunes is dedicated.
The band – with which Galán has worked extensively – gathers all the strength of a group of excellent and promising local instrumentalists.
