"What do I know anyway? I''m just some dumb kid," sings Adam Amoroso in A World Like This. Mildly sarcastic? Indeed, but hardly self-descriptive of him, nor his mates Andrew Leader, Eric Grava, and Martin DiLiegro. The four teamed up to form The Mystery Tramps on Halloween night, 2004, in their hometown of Lynnfield, Massachusetts.
They chose the name because of its roots in the seminal stage of rock history (the lyrics of Bob Dylan''s Like a Rolling Stone), and because of its allusion to the enigmatic vagabond musician. Despite their young ages, The Tramps have already done their share of traveling and performing, regularly headlining the best clubs in Boston (Avalon, Paradise Lounge, Middle East), and in NYC (Knitting Factory, The Bitter End) as well.
The Mystery Tramps have just released their third CD, We Are The Mystery Tramps. The self-produced EP includes six original songs, and, while clearly demonstrating the maturity in the band''s songwriting and performance skills, it serves as a fitting follow-up to 2007''s full-length release, Cure For The Common Misconception. The songs of The Mystery Tramps have been embraced by Boston radio stations, including WBCN, WFNX, and WXKS.
The band considers opening for The Aquabats and MC Lars at the fabled Avalon Ballroom in Boston; working with Greg Hawkes of The Cars, who produced their debut EP, Nowhere''s End; and their time spent with producer/mixer Stephen George, (Michael Jackson, Mary J. Blige, Ric Ocasek, Chris Brown) on Cure For The Common Misconception among the highlights of their young careers.
The Mystery Tramps are also very proud to have been selected as the winner of the 13th Annual WBCN/Berklee College of Music Battle of the High School Bands, and, in addition, each member of the band was awarded a scholarship to the Berklee College Summer Program.
Performer magazine says, "The Mystery Tramps create not just quality music, but authentic and meaningful statements of youth."
