Details:
Fishing up the Moon is Nick Keir’s 3rd solo studio album, and his best work to date.

Reflecting Nick’s unique musical imagination, his song writing on Fishing up the Moon is varied, confident and contemplative. With strong melodies and perceptive lyrics, this album can be listened to over and over again, constantly revealing layers of meaning and melody. Nick’s brought in the talented Emily Smith to accompany him and provide beautifully haunting backing vocals. It’s an inspired teaming of voice and styles. As well as Emily, he’s called in a firstrate String Quartet and topline Klezmer/Scandanavian accordionist Oyvind Ougaard.: the result is a memorable album which leaves haunting melodies in your mind, and thoughtful words on your lips.

Nick’s songwriting skills were developed whilst working for 25 years with the McCalmans, one of Scotland’s hardest working, best known and best folk acts. When not travelling the world with them, he performs and records as a solo artist giving a different focus to his work and allowing free rein to his creativity and musical ability. 5 years ago he was sought out by Danish Composer Caspar Reiff to write and perform with his unique Tolkien Ensemble – the only authorised musical adaptation of The Lord of the Rings. Having already played to sell out audiences throughout Europe , this summer he’ll be performing it with the Hollywood Orchestra, to the narration of the legendary actor Christopher Lee.

In Fishing up the Moon Nick Keir’s unique and very different styles of music are brought together in an inspiring and evocative collection of songs .
