MP3 Paper Ghosts EP - POP: Pop/Rock

Danceable pop rock so sweet that it would give Phil Spector a diabetic seizure.

5 MP3 Songs
POP: Pop/Rock, ROCK: Rock & Roll

Details:
Paper Ghosts started accidentally, as independent filmmakers Arlen Konopaki and Mike Robertson needed to write some pop songs as soundtrack for their debut independent film, 2005''s THE GREATEST LOVE STORY EVER TOLD. They composed the entire soundtrack, striving only to write the catchiest songs possible about love for the acerbic romantic comedy spoof.

Two of the pop-rock songs from the film, "Pages of Time" and "I Love You Love Me" defined the summer-love feeling of the film perfectly. But it seemed that the songs were indeed something special and needed to live on beyond the film. So, Robertson and Konopaki recruited Stu Hoye and Rob Godin to form The Corduroys, which later became Paper Ghosts. They''ve written wrote new songs in the same pop-rock style, each one dancier than the last.

A definite product of their influences: Paper Ghosts mix the unrelenting pop of The Beatles with the tongue-in-cheek irony of The Magnetic Fields and the hip nerdiness of Weezer. Paper Ghosts have forged a sound that is impossibly catchy and utterly danceable.

Paper Ghosts recorded their debut EP at Riverdale Recorders in Edmonton Alberta Canada during winter 2007. The talented Adam Blinov (Joe Hay, Julia McLeod) flew in from Ontario to produce. It was recorded by Juno award-nominated Terry Tran, with additional assistance from Nano Uribe (formerly of Edmonton shoegaze outfit Storyboard, currently founder of Edmonton supergroup Aurora), and mastered at Joao Carvallho Mastering in Toronto.

Stu, Mike and Arlen are all seasoned theatrical improvisers, so they are confident and witty onstage. Despite the poppy innocence of their EP, the live show features harder-edged, incredibly danceable versions of the songs, with swelling keyboards and bumping Ratatat-esque beats.

People who are interested in The Beatles Weezer The Magnetic Fields should consider this download.
