Career in Music of Pramod Desi:
Pramod inherited a legacy of Indian Classical music from his father, Music was a part of Pramod’s life since his nascent years. He used to accompany his father to the religious discourses popular among Maharashtrians, called “Keertan”, which includes classical music. Basically, Pramod became adept at playing the harmonium and received training on the flute from reputed teachers. Subsequently, he also acquired systematic training for a percussion instrument viz. the Tabla. Rhythm, it can be said, is in his blood. Hence, he had no difficulty in playing any rhythm instrument, whether Indian or Western and also the side-rhythm instruments. To keep abreast of the times, Pramod also learned Western music and assimilated the concept of Harmony, when he mastered western musical instruments such as the Accordion and the Synthesizer.
He has a very wide range of experience spanning about 45 years in the field of music. The spectrum of his performing experience ranges from Indian classical music to orchestral performances for Hindi film songs, Marathi “Bhav Geet”, Gujarathi Folk, Western Band, Ghazals and Devotional Songs. He has performed with many groups - on stage and for TV, Radio and private recordings. He has worked with renowned music arrangers and music directors in the Hindi and Marathi film industry. He has also contributed in background music composition for various documentaries.
In the area of musical composition, Pramod has excelled due to his creative streak. He has so far composed songs and background scores for many dramas and has acquired the best Music Director prize in drama competitions arranged by RBI and Nehru Center.
Pramod has been a team leader and has worked as Music Director for a versatile music team of Bank Of India, who participated in about 11 Inter-Bank competitions at All India level and has received the “Best Performance” trophy on about 7 occasions out of 11, under his direction. While participating in these competitions, Pramod has written, composed, directed and presented various national integration songs and folk songs, which always acquired either the first or second prize in the competitions.
After listening to the specimen of compositions written and tuned by him with the help of the music notation software with playback, the depth of his knowledge, experience and creativity is witnessed.
In his personal life, Pramod is a company executive occupying a very responsible post of Chief Technology Officer in a reputed Indian Company.
