There are available through cdbaby a very limited quantity of long time Maui musician and songwriter RAY GOOLIAK''s self-produced 1st album, “Home Away from Home” on Silver Sidewalk Records.
These are the original vinyl albums (still shrink wrapped) from the ONLY submaster pressing. It was released in Hawaii and splashed down in Japan January of 1980.
Recorded and mixed in 30 days during Sept. 1979 by Moe Whittemore at his legendary 700 West Studios in New Palestine, Indiana, this album is considered a great initial musical effort from Ray. As well as writing and arranging all the material, he performed ALL the instruments:
guitars, bass, drums, keyboards and sang all the lead & backup vocals.
Being one of Maui’s most gifted artists, Ray labored to combine a unique style of American rock music with a blend of sweet tropical Hawaiian sounds. With time tested songs like “Maui On My Mind” and “Goodbye Aloha”, you hear a passionate rendering of great music inspired by the beauty of Maui.
