Details:
"This record''s been a long time comin''," says Hank Madison frontman Tripp Lanier. Be the Sky will be the fourth studio project from the Florida trio. "I had reached a ceiling in my writing...I don''t think I was extending myself enough emotionally, and the subject matter I was used to writing about wasn''t connecting with me inside anymore. We''d grown, and I didn''t know what to do next."

It''s 2001 and after completing the three song EP, demonstration with producer Alex Gibson the two flew to Paris "just for kicks." Lanier recalls, "It''s freezing and we roll into this little bar. We''re talking about how many cool things happened in this city, shifts in worldviews, etc. I started talking about what I had learned from reading Ken Wilber (among others) and became very excited. Alex just said, ''this is what you need to write about...this is your passion.'' Then it hit me...no make."

Out of that conversation came the fuel to write some of the most powerful material the group had ever played. "We are the Ones" comes to mind. "That song just came out...we were a week or two away from going back into the studio and it just arrived . It was scary. I had just made friends with singer/songwriter Stuart Davis and asked him to contribute some vocals. It turned out great."

On "Satellite=Sky" -- "No matter the wisdom tradition, at it''s core is the understanding of The One. It''s easy for us to see things in dualities (yin/yang, man/woman, heaven/hell), but down the road you begin to recognize the nondual nature of things, how everything is connected and how each of us embodies the other."

Not your typical radio material, but Tripp ads, "There comes a time when you get tired of bitching about your environment, your culture. You either become stagnant or find yourself beginning to create the world you want to live in, you work to become the person you would look up to. You''re definitely going to have a hard time fitting in because you''re not playing it safe anymore. But by that point, do you really want to go backwards?"

Hank Madison is drummer Jack Higgins, bassist Aquil Salih and Tripp Lanier handling the guitar and vocals. The group has produced four studio projects including demonstration and their latest, Be the Sky .
