Happy Hour hails from Grand Rapids as one of the most prolific acoustic-based bands in the area. For nearly two years, Happy Hour has gigged relentlessly around the west Michigan area and is quickly expanding.
Brent Shirey has always strived for musical perfection. From piano lessons at age 7, to the coronet, to over 6 years of guitar, Shirey is multi-faceted. As lead vocals, he ranges from delicate to belting, once again creating dynamics. Over the years, Shirey has developed a unique style that has helped to mold the sound of Happy Hour into a true juggernaut of melody and emotion.
Scott Rider supplies the driving heartbeat of Happy Hour. His drumming lands in time, accenting the twists and turns of Shirey''s song writing. Rider uses an array of tools varying from sticks, to brushes and mallets. Backing vocals and hand drums are also among the assets that he brings to the band. Intuition and a desire for progression keep his style fresh and ever changing.
Scott Schultz is the newest member of Happy Hour. With primary roots as a drummer, he brings an excellent sense of rhythm to his bass playing. His role is not only to play bass, but to act as a "wild card" as well. Playing other instruments such as organ, piano and xylophone (as well as adding secondary percussion) creates a versatile sound for the band.
Overall, Happy Hour has come together over the years to create music that is pleasing to the well-trained ear, as well as the everyday listener. Clever songwriting fused with melody and emotion.
