MP3 Hayseed Prophets - Future Looks Bright

What if the Flatlanders sideswiped the Jayhawks on Highway 61?

12 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Americana, COUNTRY: Country Rock

Details:
"This album was recorded on a damp Saturday afternoon in the Haydon''s livingroom. It took seven hours to get twenty-five or so takes of these twelve songs down on tape, all of which we mixed the following day. All the music was recorded live. There are no overdubs. We fixed three mistakes during mixing: two shanked notes and a lyrical error. All other mistakes we left in." - liner notes

In an industry that loves labels, Hayseed Prophets would probably be categorized as alt-country. However, like any good band, they defy generalizations. True, you can almost count on hearing a Johnny Cash cover at any one of their fine shows, but don''t be surprised when you hear them pull out a power-pop number by the likes of Badfinger. Formed in 2003 by veteran Boston rockers John Haydon, John Bickford, Jerry O''Hare, Pete Woodward, Seth Peterson, and Claudia Haydon, this band creates music that draws from each of their many influences. Collectively, they have served in over a dozen bands with more than half a century''s worth of experience. That being said, you''ll still find a unique, unwearied, faith put forth in their music. With subtle harmonies backed by understated performances, this band is about presenting the song. Combine that profound respect with their deep personal friendships and you''ll have discovered the essence of what has drawn these people together to form Hayseed Prophets.

John Haydon, an established singer-songwriter in the Boston area, has released two solo albums and an EP (Resolve, This Time, She''s Gone), which have received rave reviews. John''s music career also includes playing bass for such bands as Five Dollar Milkshake, the Timbre Project, and Matt Griffin.

John Bickford began his singer-songwriter career with the rock band Zen Lunatic. Their two albums (Eleven Days In May and Disco Insurance) were well received throughout the Northeast and resulted in a Boston Music Awards nomination.

Seth Peterson is a 10-year veteran bass player of such country-rock acts as the Gone Boys, SomervilleBillies, and John Haydon.

Pete Woodward, the other half of the rhythm section, was also a founding member of the Boston band Zen Lunatic. His drumming can also be heard on many of the early Pete Weiss recordings.

Claudia Haydon''s musical background includes singing and recording with John Haydon on his debut album Resolve.

Jerry O''Hare, a versatile musician, has played along side John Haydon for many years and has been a long-standing member of the Bamboo Steamers.

For each of the members of Hayseed Prophets, this band is about sharing an experience together that transcends the usual trappings found in most new bands that are trying to take over the world. The common joy they share being around one-another, whether it is at the dinner table or in the practice room, is clearly felt at any one of their live shows. The loose, yet natural feeling of their live show, which has been deftly captured on their recent recording Future Looks Bright, has a charm that is infectious, and provides a great backdrop for audiences to just relax and enjoy! For the Hayseed Prophets, that is more important than taking over the world... unless it''s one show at a time.
