JAZZ has become a very American genre of music,describing a style of music that some say started with "Rag Time".
"Rag Time" is generally believed to have originated in the "Roaring Twenties" (1920) and evolved into JAZZ (1930s) and on into "BIG BAND SWING" (1940s), which is still popular and gaining momentum today (2005)
"JAZZ" and "SWING" are very intermingled and today it is, more or less, a matter of opinion how the music is interpreted.
The "LOU HASKINS BIG BAND" plays in a style more to the side of "SWING", although is is easily said that the style is "JAZZY"
