Shawn Summers (son of Rockabilly legend Gene Summers) was originally trained as a classical musician from childhood through College. A promising opera singer during his stint at Texas State, he abandoned higher education altogether in the late 90’s for a more satisfying approach to making music. “Bronko” represents six years of obsessive creative output resulting in Summers’ writing, playing and singing every note and beat on the album. His many styles, from Mazzy Star-like “Dark, Dark Refrain” to suave-o, Michel Fugain-esque “Je Ne Sais Pas”, showcase his sonorous versatility and appreciation of widely varied influences while remaining true to his central raw, unruly musical roots.
