As hip-hop saga continues with ostentatious, conspicuous and malicious artists, Street king remains committed to rhyming reasons.
Representing London England, Stephen Emeka Nwanze (Mecca) was first introduced to rap music at an early age on the streets of Lagos. Mecca later migrated to London to pursue his University education but soon got trapped into the criminal world with its codes and ethics.
In early July 2004 Mecca was indicted on credit card fraud and multiply counts of forgery, the case went on trail eight months later, but due to insufficient evidences the jury acquitted Mecca on all charges.
This sad event brought forth a positive attitude, which lead Mecca back to the University and also lead to the formation of SWIPE records in late 2005 as a way to combat the negative effects of street life.
The album Bloody Murder was released in late 2006, and by mid 2007 has attained critical acclaimed with recognition by both mainstream and underground music scene. “Represents true artistic passion with burning flare”. The Mic Check EP does not exempt this flare, although due to extenuating circumstances the album Chinese Whispers had to be postponed and will be release towards the end of the year, Still Mic Check EP demonstrates with illustrations the true essence of rap music, and will certainly reinforce the notion as stated by rap critics “Most innovative producer / artist in the UK”.
