“Beerland” CD Release: Singer/songwriter/guitarist Ace Case has finished work on this new seven song CD. Ace’s sidemen on the project were bassist Richard Morris and drummer Jason Laviola. Case’s sound has been compared to John Hiatt, Dave Alvin, and the Replacements. Described as “alt-rock with a twang” and “Americana with an edge,” the project has been in the works for almost three years. Ace is now booking dates to support the CD.
Dave (“Ace”) Case fun facts:
• Home Cookin’ - “Beerland” was recorded on a shoe-string in Ace’s living room. Rhythm tracks were recorded to 8-track reel to reel and over-dubs were recorded straight onto the hard-drive. The CD was mixed at Camp Fantastic Studios in Staten Island, and mastered at Sterling Sound in Manhattan.
• History: In 2001, Big Toe Records released “Songs” the first full length recording of Case’s solo material. From 1987 to 1993, Dave Case was front man and creative force of the band Dave and the Rave. Their 1991 EP “Walkin” made heavy rotation on dozens of college and commercial stations. For the past three years, Dave has been performing mostly solo, playing shows with Dave Sharp, Mathew Sweet, and Pat Dinizio.
• Ready for the nursing home - Dave was raised on rock and roll, but soaked-up the sing-alongs of his banjo strumming dad. Forget about Youtube: Ace has thousands of adoring fans who’ve never touched a computer. They can be found at nursing homes and senior centers across metro NY area.
• Street Music - Ten years ago, Dave left a settled life at home and spent six years in Europe working as a street musician.
• Two acts in one, twice the fun - Ace’s live dates sometimes include an encore performance by Ace’s alter ego, “legendary” New Jersey lounge act Eddie Vino and the Snifters. For Eddie, its “all about love,” especially since the loan sharking career tanked.
