Details:
Formed in the late months of 2006, Pride Parade has quickly become a heavy rock darling in their hometown of Athens, GA. The first six months of 2007 saw the 3-guitar 5-piece splitting time between studio recording with engineer Kyle Spence (of Harvey Milk) and playing select shows outside of Georgia. Pride Parade made their club packed Athens debut at the June 2007 Athfest music festival. Shortly after, they released a 4-song Ep titled "V" – a preview of the driven versatile rock monster for which the band is known. Each show drew larger crowds and soon Pride Parade found themselves back in the studio with Spence recording their debut LP. Local and regional fan based buzz backed by print media interest allowed Pride Parade (when not recording) to share the stage with larger acts Harvey Milk, The Black Lips, and Qui (David Yow). May 2008 witnessed the birth of "Descendants", the 11-song album recorded and released by the band. Prior to the album release came a nomination for Pride Parade as "Best Rock Band" in the Athens'' annual Flagpole Music Awards. Pride Parade''s "Descendants" features hard, layered guitars, thunderously tight rhythms and a hearty portion of achingly gruff lyrical melodies.

"This music is dirty. It''s earthy and working-class and heavy and populist. It''s also distinctively Southern without being anything close to traditional Southern rock. Pride Parade''s music is heavy metal distilled through the disappointment of post-boom grunge and the exhaustion of the service industry. The lead guitars are slaps to the back of the neck rather than exercises in dexterity. The rhythm guitars are, at once, jolting and bottom-heavy. The vocals are both accusatory and possessive of an us-versus-them quality..."
