Details:
Ever wonder what the animals do in the zoo once you leave for the day? Zooboogie takes the entire family on a jazzy behind-the-scenes tour of this wild kingdom. Rich melodies are combined with lush harmonies to create a musical menagerie unlike any other.

First stop is a visit with Doctor Mindy, The Vet. As you stroll past the pond you''ll want to Dance like a Duck when you hear the double fluted polka. Rounding the corner of the penguin exhibit, you''ll learn about a big rescue. You''ll also meet the Big Fat Pig who gets invited to dinner and has to think quickly when he realizes he''s on the menu.

When The Elephant Who Couldn''t Pay Her Rent stomps on through, you''ll be sure to hear flutes chirping and kettle drums pounding as she travels through this tribal landscape of sound. Migration Sensation tells a story about the annual comings and goings of animals around the world in a rhythm that''s fused with authentic African textures. Two added features on this CD are Pullara''s new takes on The Mouse first sung by Soupy Sales and High Hopes formerly sung by Frank Sinatra. Zooboogie is packed with so many adventures, you''ll want to take this musical tour again and again.

In the artist''s words:

Since recording many of the songs contained in Zooboogie, the Cool Beans Band has been swinging from the vines! Creating this exotic collection of animal tunes has become quite a musical safari.

The zoo has always been one of my favorite places to visit. With this good vibe in mind, I figured, "Hey, why not create a musical zoo?" Animals have always been an inspiration throughout my career. Often, I''ve been asked to perform my songs at zoological parks. While there, I''ve wondered what it would be like after the lights go out at the zoo? Do the animals have a party? I''ve explored such ideas and much more within the songs on this CD. Whether they be in metaphor or simile, wild or tame, nature''s circus of creatures gave flight to my language and music making.

With these tunes, I set out to create and explore a menagerie of songs that are stories, dances and melodies that bring out the animal in all of us. I call this CD Zooboogie because you can''t help but tap your foot like a chimp or clap your hands like a seal to these melodic sounds and calls of the wild. Whether singing like a bird with me or roaring like a lion in your own room, you''re invited to roam this musical zoo to boogie wherever it takes you!

Cockadoodledoo,
Steve Pullara

Reviews:

Zoo Parade; "Zooboogie" (CoolBeans Music) Warminster resident, Steve Pullara, serves up a frisky set of kids'' tunes themed on animals large and small, enlivened with jazz, swing, country and world music-flavors. Some are just plain silly like his remake of Soupy Sales'' "The Mouse" and " Dance Like A Duck." But, Pullara also gets the kids thinking about the grand order with "Migration Sensation" and his lengthy list of animal attributes we all use in common speech. "Metaphor Menagerie." You''ll hear this music roaring, soaring and selling at (where else?) the Philadelphia Zoo.

"Pullara''s Broadway-like tunes celebrate a veritable encyclopedia of animals on Zooboogie! This Pennsylvania-based kids'' music veteran covers habitats, animal features, and animal baby names, as well as getting in a little metaphor and simile practice. And listen for covers of Sammy Kahn and Jimmy Van Heusen''s "High Hopes"; and "The Mouse", written by Denny Randell and Sandy Linzer for Soupy Sales!"

"Veteran children''s musician Steve Pullara does it again with an animal-focused musical romp for kids. Lively, toe-tapping animal dance tunes, such as The Mouse, Dance Like a Duck, and the title tune will have boys and girls up and moving. Pullara also provides topics not covered by other performers, such as Doctor Mindy (The Vet), possibly the only children''s song about veterinarians, Migration Sensation, and All Creatures Were Babies, which teaches young children about animals babies. Other musical highlights include A Big Fat Pig, Penguin Rescue, a cover of the classic song High Hopes, and The Elephant Who Couldn t Pay Her Rent, complete with messy (and fun) elephant-trumpeting noises. The musical arrangements are top-notch and the cover photo of Pullara with dozens of animals is extremely eye-catching. This is a great addition to the classroom, the library, and the home. I defy any family member not to immediately tap their feet and sing with Steve Pullara s catchy tunes. All Creatures Were Babies in particular is an amazingly fun way to learn about animal growth (a topic not covered by other children''s musicians) and Zooboogie will have the kids and parents bopping along with the animals in the song. Steve Pullara is in the top echelon of professional children''s musicians in North America!"

"Steve Pullara claims a place as one of the descendents of Soupy Sales with his updating of Soupy’s “The Mouse” on his new cd, “Zooboogie.” It’s good stuff. He has continually delivered quality, amusing songs in perfect bite-size nuggets, designed to entertain and energize kids, no matter their age! ‘Zooboogie’ follows in the footsteps of his previous works, creating a theme to transport the listener into the most magical zoo there is – the one in every child’s mind! Another winner!"

Press release:

Zooboogie is a wild and jazzy romp through the zoo. Once again, Steve Pullara works his story crafting magic by combining lush harmonies and rich musicianship all within a swinging mood that’s provided by his Cool Beans Band. This safari of sound will bring out the animal in you! Tour the zoo through a Metaphor & Simile Menagerie. It’s sure to bring out the animal in you. And, remember All Creatures Were Babies, so don’t forget to stop by and take look at our new members. As you pass the pond, take in the Duck Dance to a double fluted polka while witnessing a Penguin Rescue. Meanwhile, a Big Fat Pig gets crafty in avoiding his invitation “for dinner."

Steve Pullara creates a fusion of swing with authentic African textures in Migration Sensation, a tale of many species who come and go throughout the year. Flutes and timpanies pound through the tribal landscape throughout The Elephant Who Couldn’t Pay Her Rent. He also reworks two favorites from the 60’s into his animal collection; the Soupy Sales hit called The Mouse and a snappy Sinatra tune called High Hopes. This visit is not complete without a checkup from Doctor Mindy, The Vet. And for every kid who ever wanted a pet of their own, Steve includes a jaunty western flavored tune entitled I''d Really Like A Pony. Zooboogie by Steve Pullara and His Cool Beans Band would be a fine addition to your stable of CDs and will have you swinging from the vines.
