Dancing Llama Records is pleased to announce the release of Dana Wilson’s second CD “A Serenade for Sinners”. Born and raised in Detroit, singer/songwriter Dana Wilson has bypassed the light and descended straight into a wary darkness in this four-song EP. In sharp contrast to the soft romance of his first collection of love songs, “Serenade” oozes with grinding guitars and punchy rock beats. This compelling collection is a trip to the dark side of the mindset of Dana Wilson….experiences that hounded him to pick up pen, paper and guitar and express himself through his music.

1) “Empty Pockets” A straight-forward rocking anthem for the disenfranchised, a theme for the working man struggling to keep it together in a bleak and shifting economic landscape. Gritty Neil Young-style electric guitar work from Rick Matle is featured.
2) "A Serenade for Sinners" 1960’s psychedelic images swirl in this dreamy minor-key tone poem buoyed by the soaring violin flights of Ron Ellman. A hypnotic dance beat propels this tune deep into the psyche.
3) "Angel of Mercy” Retro tones set the mood of this hard rocker propelled by the spiraling electric guitar solo work of studio veteran Rick Matle.
4) "Survive or Surrender" Modern rock with a touch of metal meld with the dark lyrical theme. Whether howling like Ozzy Osborne or questing indignantly like John Lennon, Dana Wilson asks you to choose.
Inspired by early rock and classic country, Dana Wilson’s formative years were spent listening to artists like The Rolling Stones, Johnny Cash and Jim Morrison. Later influences include The Beatles, Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen. Rick Matle acting as songwriting partner and musical director helped create the final vision and sound, bringing in the right musicians for the parts and simply “playing a lot of guitar”. Matle is a musician equally adept at jazz, blues and rock, lending to the tracks a strong rhythmic foundation. Drummer/percussionist Larry Fratangelo, a veteran who has performed with Detroit’s finest including Aretha Franklin, Parliament Funkadelics and Anita Baker, finds time between his current gig touring with Kid Rock to lay down some powerful and soulful beats.
