Details:
As a singer/songwriter growing up in the prairie city of Saskatoon, Carrie Horachek maintains a deep affection for Saskatchewan, betrayed only by the kind of travel lust invited by those far-reaching horizons. Her debut album Out the Car Window demonstrates her unique brand of storytelling to capture both the anticipation of departure and longing for home. "Most of the songs-which cover topics from the romantic to the quirky-are painted like little scenes flickering by from track to track. . . . She also travels down a musically diverse path with blues, folk, and almost-funk influences audible through the Tegan and Sara-like rasp (combined with Maren Ord''s ballad sensibilities) in her vocals" (SEE Magazine).

The road trip theme of the album is hardly surprising, considering the album was recorded in Edmonton while Horachek was living in Saskatoon. The locale was chosen when Horachek met producer Brock Skywalker from Captain Tractor while on tour. As the producer of Out the Car Window, Brock connected Carrie with a host of Edmonton''s impressive players, including Cory Papirny on percussion, Jeff Smook on bass, mandolin work by Scott Peters (Captain Tractor) and guitar by Ben Sures.

The band expertly seasoned the "unique imagery that keeps the disc fresh and interesting" (Canadian Musician).

With the success of the album came more opportunities for Horachek to hit the road, connecting with audiences through her engaging and lively style: "At once sweet and passionate, charming and electric, she radiates the simple joy of being able to perform" (Adam Norris, The Sheaf).

"With beautiful vocals and comfortably catchy tunes, there''s little doubt this prairie pixie is on a road trip to stardom."
(Ryan McLaughlin, Canadian Musician)

"Horachek, to be perfectly honest, was amazing. She exceeded all of my expectations,
and delivered a quality show that left everyone wanting more."
(Shannon Boklaschuk, The Star Phoenix)

"The sleepy drunken patrons were practically knocked on their asses when Horachek''s
Dolores O''Riordon meets Holly McNarland vocals hit them."
