Details:
Doc Young is the creation of Brian Scott Young, Ph.D., who performs solo or with his bands, Doc Young’s Family Fun and Barrelhouse.

Brian was raised in Arizona and grew up with a deep love of Western music – and all American folk music styles such as country blues, blues, soul, bluegrass, country-folk, honky-tonk, Western Swing, rockabilly, country-rock, etc. After being lucky enough to attend Arizona State University as an undergraduate and participate in the 80’s heyday of the Tempe music scene, he was able to pull off the coup of attending Texas A&M University -- only ninety miles from Austin, “The Music Capital”.

Already an active musician, fatherhood changed his focus somewhat. Not only was it suddenly more difficult to play late-night shows, but he also recognized the importance of music to children and families. At the same time, he had a difficult time finding music that he and his family could all enjoy together. So he set out to make some of his own, combining pop and rock music with themes that would be of interest to the whole family (not just kids or adults only). What first started out as solo shows at daycare facilities; has now grown to a band that performs at major public events held at zoos, libraries, parks, schools, and exposition centers. Through it all, the primary objective remains having as much fun as possible.

And now everybody can join in on the fun with the June 2008 official release of Doc Young’s Train at the Zoo. The CD is a compilation of Brian’s family-friendly originals as well as covers of classic family-folk songs. The artwork was drawn by Matthew S. Armstrong; who is also an artist for Harper Collins and Disney. The package is sure to please kids of all ages. After all, Doc Young is “music for the young (and their kids too!).”

Part of the proceeds from the sale of the CDs will go to organizations that help make the world better for children.
