Details:
Roots to Roots and Beyond is Dave Holden''s CD connecting jazz musicians from the 1930''s to the present-day musicians. This project is a tribute to roots - Dave''s roots began in jazz and so this album was a love project - to get together with some of the musicians from his beginning years and combine that history with today''s younger musicians. ROOTS TO ROOTS AND BEYOND begins with the first "roots", Dave''s father, Oscar Holden, a professional musician who moved to Seattle in 1919. Oscar is called "the patriarch of Early Seattle jazz" and is on the cover of the book entitled, "The Roots of Jazz in Seattle - Jackson Street After Hours" written by Paul DeBarros. ! (For more detailed information on these "roots" musicians, read this book). This CD title begins with the original ''roots'' (Oscar Holden and Jabo Ward) includes the next generation of ''roots'' (Buddy Catlett, Billy Tolles, Johnny Lewis and Dave) and is completed with the new generation called ''beyond'' (Steve Black, Benjamin White, and singer Hayley Blackwell). These original songs by Dave Holden are his tribute to his roots with special appreciation from these great legends of the Pacific Northwest. Enjoy Mr Music Man, Dave Holden, singing and playing with other great legends.!
