Singer and multi-instrumentalist RUSS LAKE called on 14 San Francisco Bay Area friends including guitar wizards MIKE SCHERMER (MARIA MULDAUR) and LAURA CHAVEZ (LARA PRICE BAND), honking saxophonist KEITH CROSSAN (TOMMY CASTRO) and evocative violinist ANNIE STEINHARDT (PELE JUJU) to help flesh out his songs that span Rock, Americana, Funk, Roots-Country, Surf, Novelty and Retro Pop.
A long-enduring music biz tradition has been to pressure musicians and their material to fit into just one style or format. A few artists like BECK and PETER GABRIEL have fought hard for the freedom to do whatever moves them at any given moment and their fans are the richer for it. Downloading and personal digital players, have given aficionados a way to loosen the grip of short-sighted companies that limit both the artist''s creativity and fan''s enjoyment.
